The key to a successful neighborhood watch program is communication-

Talk with your neighbors and friends in the area, talk with someone on the
committee, talk to the police. For instance, if you are going out of town,
talk to your neighbor(s) and ask them to keep an eye on your house.
If you notice something that "just doesn't seem right", don't hesitate to
call the police department non emergency number (not necessarily 911).
